Getting to know Ilyssa
She works with diverse clients of varying ages, abilities, races/ethnicities, sexual orientations, genders, and religions/spiritualities. Many of Ilyssa’s clients are seeking treatment for anxiety, life transitions, depression, grief, trauma, school-related challenges, and anger management. Ilyssa is especially passionate about serving adolescents, teenagers, young adults, individuals with disabilities/different abilities, students, LGBTQ+ community, and BIPOC population. Ilyssa has advanced training in trauma-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), art therapy, bibliotherapy, and Gottman therapy. She also is bilingual and speaks Spanish. I view therapy as a collaborative process in which the therapist strengthens the client in the creation of goals and strife for well-being. Ilyssa believes that it is pivotal for every individual to be able to acknowledge, display and feel comfortable with their authentic selves, find strengths/positivity in their lives, and overall find compassion, love, and care within themselves. Her therapeutic goals include getting a client to a state of holistic well-being, creating a safe, empathic, open-minded space for each client, and helping the client to see beyond their current stressors and/or diagnosis.
